Call name Niya
Niya was the tenth puppy born in my first litter with Trouble. At the time I had only two boys and seven (yes, seven!) girls. I had hoped the last one would be a boy. When the last puppy finally came into the world ten minutes after midnight, she was a girl.
Since I had run out of girl colors, I had started using the boy colors on girls as they were born. Eventually, I ran out of all single colors and had to start doubling up on them. She was pink teal, but that was a mouthful so I called her Barbie for the first eight weeks of her life because I didn’t think I was keeping her.
When it came time to evaluate the puppies for structure at eight weeks old, Barbie – Pink Teal – was Niya.
You can read more about my little monster (affectionate monster, not a bad dog monster) on Love Newfoundlands where she has a whole long post introducing her to the world.
We start puppy kindergarten at the beginning of March.
