Your puppy is two weeks old now.
Names
While they aren’t much more than little Newfie blobs that still just eat, sleep, and poop, it’s time to start thinking of a name if you don’t already have one picked out. Having a name picked out earlier also helps me with the behind the scenes paperwork as the litter gets older in case I need to send you back to the drawing board for ideas.
Sometimes my litters will have a theme and I ask that you follow the theme. For example, my first litter with Trouble was the Heroes and Villains theme and I asked everyone to give their dog a name that is either a hero or a villain.
When naming a dog for AKC registration, you do not give them a first, middle, and last name like you would a human child. If you give me a name like that I will ask you to try again. One of my most popular posts on the blog is all about coming up with an AKC registered name for your dog.
You need to put my kennel name in the front, then what you’ve selected behind that. Here are a few suggestions, I hope they help you get your creative juices flowing. You can use any of them, but I’d prefer for you to be creative and come up with one that is meaningful for you.

Eamples of Registered Names:
Yes, I did look at all the books on my bookshelf to come up with these examples.
Your registered name and your call name do not have to match. Sometimes that hangs people up because they think that Skippy must be in the registered name somewhere.
Take Bruce for example. His registered name is CH Bydand’s Holy Brown Bear Batman, call name Bruce. See how his call name does not go along with the registered name. Another dog is Korra. Her registered name is, Bydand’s Waterbender, from Avatar The Legend of Korra. Another one is Freyja. Her registered name is Bydand’s Goddess of Norse Dakota. Freyja was a Norse Goddess, so it’s a play on words from North to Norse.
I want you to have fun with these names. Let me know when you have selected your puppies name. If you name it like a child or with your last name, I will ask you to try again.

Go Home Kit
I send home a tote bag full of goodies for you and your puppy to help ease the transition.
Collar
I will be sending you home with a martingale collar.
I prefer martingale collars because they are looser than your regular flat buckle collar, but when you clip a leash on to them, they will tighten up nicely if needed. When fitted correctly, a martingale will not slip over your dogs head like a regular flat buckle would if they decided they don’t want to walk the same direction as you.
This is the collar my dogs wear until we go to a dog show, then I swap them out for a show snake chain collar.
This is the martingale collar I send you home with. Unfortunately I cannot offer a color choice. If you are getting a boy, you get blue. If you are getting a girl, you get pink. Pink and blue helps to simplify things in my life.
Leash
I can’t send you with just a collar and not a leash too.
Do not expect your puppy to be able to walk on a leash when you first take them home. If you have a longer drive home, the leash is a great option to to have them on so they don’t bound off into the parking lot, or worse, the road when you have to stop for a potty break.
I love these rope leashes. I can’t even tell you how many of them I have hanging around my house. I even have one special for pulling my kayak to the water.
The leashes hold up to the test of time and the foamy grip on the handle makes it easy to hang onto your dog.
Again, no color choice. Pink for girls, blue for boys.
Blanket from Home
Leaving home is a big adjustment for the littles ones and I feel better sending them with something that has a familiar scent on it.
I like to send a sherpa throw sized blanket home will all of the puppies.
Again, no color choice. Pink for girls, blue for boys. There might be other colors on the rare occasion if I run into an issue getting just pink or just blue.
